![Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli secured a commanding victory in a dramatic Miami Grand Prix, finishing ahead of McLaren’s Lando Norris in second and teammate Oscar Piastri in third after a race packed with incidents, strategy swings and late drama.
“The pace was strong. I was able to stay close. The team did a great strategy,” Antonelli said after the race.
“We did a massive undercut and we managed to bring it home even though it was not easy.
“This is just the beginning. The road is still long. We are working super hard and the team is doing an incredible job.”
The race exploded into life from the opening corner, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc going three-wide with Antonelli and Red Bull’s Max Verstappen into Turn One. Leclerc initially seized the lead, while Verstappen spun on exit, dropping down the order in a chaotic start.
Further back, Ferrari’s Sir Lewis Hamilton and Alpine’s Franco Colapinto made contact under braking, with Hamilton sustaining damage that would compromise his race pace.
Antonelli quickly regrouped, reclaiming the lead from Leclerc by Lap 4 before the race took another twist. Red Bull’s Isack Hadjar, who had started from the pit lane following power unit changes, crashed out early after clipping the wall, moments before Alpine’s Pierre Gasly suffered a heavy accident that brought out the Safety Car.
At the restart, Leclerc held firm initially, but the momentum shifted rapidly. Norris surged into the lead on Lap 13, with Antonelli and Piastri close behind as the McLarens began to show strong race pace.
Strategy would ultimately decide the race.
Mercedes executed a decisive undercut, bringing Antonelli in earlier than Norris. When the McLaren driver responded a lap later, he rejoined just ahead, but Antonelli immediately attacked and retook the position, a move that would prove race-defining.
A thrilling three-way battle briefly unfolded at the front with Verstappen, who had gambled on an early stop, attempting to hold off both Antonelli and Norris on older tyres. However...read more at TheHallOfF1.com [Link in bio]

![Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli will start the Miami Grand Prix from pole position after setting a commanding 1:27.798 in qualifying, finishing ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in second and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in third.
“It’s been an amazing day to be on pole again,” Antonelli said after the session.
“It was a difficult start with the Sprint when it didn’t go our way but super happy with the recovery.
“I got a bit excited with the last lap in Q3 but the first lap was good enough and I’m really happy with that.”
Mercedes team principal Toto Wolff praised the young driver’s performance, highlighting the strength of his initial run.
“That first lap was really special. He was three or more tenths ahead of the next guy. Spectacular. That made the pole,” Wolff said.
Qualifying unfolded as a tightly contested session, with McLaren initially appearing to hold the advantage. Lando Norris set the early benchmark in Q3 with a 1:28.183, comfortably ahead of teammate Oscar Piastri, but the session quickly swung as the track evolved.
Verstappen responded immediately, edging Norris by just two thousandths of a second before Leclerc briefly seized provisional pole. However, Antonelli’s first flying lap proved untouchable. While rivals prepared for a final push, the Mercedes driver had already done enough, and with others unable to improve on their final runs, his time stood to secure pole.
Behind the top three, Norris had to settle for fourth despite showing strong pace early in the session, while teammate Piastri dropped to seventh after failing to improve. Mercedes’ George Russell remained fifth, unable to extract more from his final lap, with Ferrari’s Sir Lewis Hamilton sixth.
Hamilton, however, struck a more positive tone despite the result, pointing to clear progress made during the session.
“The car was much better in qualifying. It’s the best it has been all weekend,” he said...more at TheHallOfF1.com [Link in bio]

![McLaren’s Lando Norris delivered a commanding performance to win the Miami Grand Prix Sprint, leading teammate Oscar Piastri home for a one-two, with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc completing the podium in third.
“Nice to be back on the top step! A good day for us,” Norris said after the race.
“It was hot out there and sweaty. I was pushing, trying to find that balance of pushing and staying relaxed to not make mistakes.
“A good start to the weekend but now I've got to do it all over again.”
Norris made the perfect start from pole, immediately asserting control into Turn 1 and maintaining the lead ahead of Piastri, while Mercedes’ Andrea Kimi Antonelli endured a difficult launch, dropping back as Leclerc capitalised to move into third. Behind them, Antonelli was left defending heavily from teammate George Russell in the opening laps.
Further back, Ferrari’s Lewis Hamilton made early progress, overtaking Red Bull’s Max Verstappen by Lap 2 to move into sixth.
As the race settled, Norris began to stretch his advantage, building a gap of over two seconds by Lap 10, while Piastri came under increasing pressure from Leclerc, who remained within DRS range but was unable to mount a decisive challenge despite having the benefit of overtake mode.
The midfield battle intensified as Russell executed a bold move on Antonelli at Turn 17 on Lap 7, briefly taking fourth before the Italian responded. Antonelli reclaimed the position with a strong move at Turn 11, before eventually pulling clear as the race progressed.
A flashpoint emerged between Verstappen and Hamilton, with the Red Bull driver forcing his way past at Turn 11, pushing Hamilton wide off the circuit. Verstappen was initially forced to concede the position, only to retake it cleanly a lap later at Turn 17, securing sixth place for good.
Out front, Norris remained in complete control, extending his lead to over three seconds by Lap 16 and managing the race expertly in the demanding Miami heat.
Piastri acknowledged there was still work to do to match his teammate’s pace.
“I’m mostly satisfied....READ MORE at TheHallOfF1.com [Link in bio]

![McLaren’s Lando Norris will start the Miami Sprint from pole position after setting a 1:27.869 in Sprint Qualifying, leading Mercedes rookie Andrea Kimi Antonelli in second and teammate Oscar Piastri in third.
“A perfect result for us. A nice way to reward the team,” Norris said after securing pole.
“We have a lot of new upgrades on the car. It's nice to feel some grip again and to reward the guys and the girls that have put a lot of work into this.”
Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc took fourth, ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen in fifth, with Mercedes’ George Russell sixth and Ferrari teammate Sir Lewis Hamilton seventh.
Alpine’s Franco Colapinto was eighth, RB’s Isack Hadjar ninth, and Alpine’s Pierre Gasly rounded out the top ten.
While McLaren celebrated a step forward, Ferrari were left searching for more despite bringing one of the most extensive upgrade packages of the weekend. According to the FIA submission, the team introduced a series of aerodynamic developments across the car, including revisions to the front wing endplate and front corner aimed at improving flow stability and front wheel wake management, alongside a reworked floor, diffuser and rear wing package designed to increase aerodynamic load and efficiency across the operating window .
Despite those changes, Hamilton admitted the performance was not where the team expected.
“I thought we would be stronger than we were today. We have to do some work overnight to try and figure out why we're not that quick,” he said.
“I was hopeful coming in, positive that we would be much higher, but it's not meant to be.”
Norris, meanwhile, pointed to both the circuit characteristics and the effectiveness of McLaren’s upgrades as key to their advantage.
“The track is different. We know this track has always been good to us but knew what we were bringing was going to be a good step and it has,” he added.
“It's nice our estimations have proved correct and the team deserve that. Since the first lap I've felt comfortable and was like ‘I've got a bit of rear grip’.”

![Mclaren's Lando Norris capped off a flawless weekend at Interlagos with victory in the São Paulo Grand Prix, leading home Mercedes' Andrea Kimi Antonelli and Red Bull's Max Verstappen, who produced a remarkable recovery drive from the pit lane to finish third.
“It was a perfect weekend,” said Norris. “An amazing race, nice to win here in Brazil. Amazing track, amazing fans. It was a great win, but to see how quick Max was today, I’m disappointed we weren’t quicker. We need to see what we can do. The championship can change so quickly, so I just focus on myself, keep my head down and keep pushing.”
Max Verstappen and Sir Lewis Hamilton started outside of the top ten but held a potential strategic advantage with new tyres available. Verstappen, starting from the pit lane, and Hamilton, lining up thirteenth, were expected to be major threats if the race unfolded in their favour. Ultimately, only one of them would turn that opportunity into a result.
Chaos from the start
It was another miserable afternoon for Hamilton, who holds honorary Brazilian citizenship and has often spoken of his deep affection for racing at Interlagos. His weekend went from bad to worse almost immediately after lights out, as the Ferrari driver dropped five places off the line despite starting on soft tyres.
His race quickly unravelled after contact at Turn 1 with the Williams of Carlos Sainz, which damaged the floor of his car. Later on the opening lap, a misjudged move behind Franco Colapinto’s Alpine on the main straight caused further damage to his front wing, forcing him into an early pit stop for repairs.
“After the hit it felt like the rear suspension was broken, but they [the team] said that it seemed to be alright,” Hamilton said. “Then the loss of downforce, I think we were losing 30 or 40 points of downforce. So when you were going through the high-speed corners the thing was snapping, and I was giving everything to try and keep up with the guys ahead of me...Read more via the link in bio.

![McLaren's Lando Norris will start the Mexico City Grand Prix from pole position after a commanding final lap secured his first pole in several races. He leads Charles Leclerc and Sir Lewis Hamilton, who delivered Ferrari’s best qualifying performance of the year, starting third for Sunday’s race at the Autódromo Hermanos Rodríguez.
Pole-sitter Norris was delighted to be back on top after a long wait.
“I’m happy to be back on pole. It’s actually been quite a long time, so it’s a good feeling,” he said. “The lap was one of those where you don’t really know what happened. It felt decent but when I saw the time I was pleasantly surprised. I got a little bit nervous of the Ferrari at the end, but I pulled it out when it mattered and I’m very happy.”
In Q3, the Ferraris came alive on the first runs, with Leclerc briefly topping the timesheets with a 1:15.991, while his teammate Hamilton slotted into the top three just three-tenths back. Norris was second quickest, with Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing lurking in fourth and championship leader Oscar Piastri of McLaren nearly half a second behind in fifth.
On the final runs, Norris produced a superb lap of 1:15.586 to take pole, finishing 0.262 seconds ahead of Leclerc. Hamilton held on to third, giving Ferrari a much-needed boost heading into race day.
“This is the first time we’ve both [Hamilton and Leclerc] been in the top three in qualifying this year and the team truly deserve it,” said Hamilton. “We are just working as hard as we can. We’ve not really moved the car forward necessarily in development, but we’ve extracted more from it and the processes are better."
“P3 is kind of the perfect spot at this track, so I’m hoping I can make the most of that. Our race pace is not too bad. It’s difficult to know, but we’ll try and give it a good race.”

![Red Bull’s Max Verstappen will start Sunday’s United States Grand Prix from pole position after delivering a composed lap of 1:32.510 at the Circuit of the Americas, beating McLaren’s Lando Norris and Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc in a tight qualifying session marked by gusty conditions and fine margins.
“It was good. I think every segment, the car was very strong,” said Verstappen. “Just trying to put the lap together around here is sometimes very tricky. It’s very hot and very windy, especially in that first sector where the tailwind makes it difficult. The first run in Q3 was good and I managed to improve a little bit from Q2. Unfortunately I couldn’t do my final run, it was a bit messy with the out-laps, but luckily we didn’t need it.”
Verstappen’s early lap in Q3 proved enough to seal pole after late traffic disrupted most drivers’ final attempts. Norris pushed hard but fell short by 0.291 seconds, while Leclerc recovered from an earlier spin to secure third. The top five were separated by less than half a second, showing just how close the field is around the fast, flowing Austin circuit.
“It was a bit more of a struggle today for whatever reason,” said Norris. “Yesterday I was comfortable and I don’t know if it’s just everyone else improved a bit, or the wind hurt us more, but we were both struggling to put the laps in and be as quick as this guy [Verstappen]. We were pushing and I’m still happy with P2. It could have been worse, but there was no chance we could have got pole today. I look forward to hopefully having a good race with Max.”
Leclerc was upbeat after securing Ferrari’s best qualifying result of the weekend so far.
“It was quite a big surprise, especially considering the weekend has been very difficult for us since the beginning,” he said. “We tried to put everything together in qualifying and managed to do so, but there are still things we need to understand with this car because there’s too much swing in performance across the weekend. Our car is normally stronger in the race, so that’s a positive. Hopefully we can stay close to Max and Lando tomorrow.”
