After nearly a decade away, Formula E is heading back to Florida — and it’s coming with power, purpose, and progress.
Round 5 of the ABB FIA Formula E World Championship will take place this Saturday, April 12th, at a new-look Homestead-Miami Speedway circuit. The last time Formula E hit the Sunshine State was back in Season 1, with a street race around Biscayne Bay. Now, the all-electric racing series brings its high-tech GEN3 Evo cars to an adapted 3.5km layout on the iconic NASCAR venue, promising fans a thrilling mix of speed and sustainability.
New Track, New Era
This year’s Miami E-Prix layout features 15 fast corners and three long straights — a bold reimagination of the Homestead circuit, crafted specifically to showcase Formula E’s instant torque and regenerative braking.
Championship leader Oliver Rowland (Nissan) arrives in top form, sitting on 68 points after clinching victory in Jeddah. But all eyes are also on NEOM McLaren’s Taylor Barnard — the breakout talent pushing for his first career win and gunning to become the youngest race winner in Formula E history.
Meanwhile, DS PENSKE’s Max Günther and Porsche’s António Félix da Costa round out the top four, keeping the title fight alive as the series barrels toward a double-header in Monaco next month.
A Symbol of Progress
The Miami race will debut the FIA President’s Medal, awarded to each Formula E winner moving forward. Made from fully recycled materials, the medal celebrates not just sporting excellence, but sustainability — a core principle for both Formula E and the FIA.
Powering a Greener Future (Formula E)
As the world’s first net-zero carbon sport from inception, Formula E is pushing boundaries in every city it visits — and Miami is no exception. Highlights from this weekend’s sustainability programme include:
Renewable Power: Events powered by HVO biofuels and solar energy
FIA Girls on Track: 120 girls will experience workshops, career talks, and a pit lane walk
Better Futures Fund: €25,000 donated to Sprout Up’s Greener Together initiative
Inspiration Hour & Electrathon: Up to 300 students engage in STEM through e-karting and immersive learning
Change. Accelerated. Live Miami: A forward-thinking summit hosted in Formula E’s EMOTION CLUB featuring global voices from sport, tech, and sustainability
